About The Position

The Elementary Teaching Assistant role at Great Hearts supports the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum within a classical, liberal arts primary-school environment. This position also offers a pathway to becoming an Apprentice Teacher, functioning as a second teacher in the classroom under the mentorship of a Master Teacher, learning the craft of teaching. Many Apprentice Teachers advance to become lead teachers.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
• Fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
• May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in the implementation of a rich Core Knowledge curriculum.
• Function as a second teacher in the classroom, without shouldering the burden of all planning, grading/evaluation, and parent communications.
• Learn the craft of teaching in a classical, liberal arts, primary-school environment through mentorship with a Master Teacher.
