About The Position

The Elementary Teaching Assistant supports the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum in a K-5 setting. This role also offers a pathway to becoming an Apprentice Teacher, where individuals function as a second teacher in the classroom under the mentorship of a Master Teacher. This mentorship provides an opportunity to learn the craft of teaching within a classical, liberal arts primary-school environment. Many Apprentice Teachers progress to become lead teachers in lower or upper schools, provided they meet the bachelor's degree requirement.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
• Fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in the implementation of a rich Core Knowledge curriculum.
• Function as a second teacher in the classroom as an Apprentice Teacher, without shouldering the full burden of planning, grading/evaluation, and parent communications.
• Learn the craft of teaching in a classical, liberal arts, primary-school environment through mentorship with a Master Teacher.
• Potentially become a lead teacher in lower or upper schools (assuming a bachelor's degree).
