About The Position
The Elementary Teaching Assistant supports the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum in a K-5 setting. This role also offers an opportunity to grow into an Apprentice Teacher position, functioning as a second teacher in the classroom with mentorship from a Master Teacher. This path allows individuals to learn the craft of teaching in a classical, liberal arts primary-school environment, with potential to become a lead teacher. Requirements
- Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
- Fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
- May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Support the lead teacher in the implementation of a rich Core Knowledge curriculum.
- Function as a second teacher in the classroom (in the Apprentice Teacher role).
- Learn the craft of teaching in a classical, liberal arts, primary-school environment through mentorship.
- Potentially become a lead teacher at either lower or upper schools (assuming a bachelor's degree).
