About The Position

Alma del Mar is a K-8 charter school with a mission to prepare scholars for college and to foster service-minded leadership through a demanding yet supportive, content-rich educational environment. This temporary role is budgeted for the 2026-2027 school year, with the potential for successful candidates to be considered for other roles afterward. The Teaching Assistant will support schoolwide systems and routines, collaborate with Lead Teachers, and may substitute as needed. The specific content and age range of students will vary based on school needs.

Requirements

• Must be 18 or older.
• Prior experience working with children in a professional capacity, or as a regular volunteer is required.
• A passion for working with kids and a belief that all kids can succeed.
• Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply and will be compensated higher.

Responsibilities

• Support with schoolwide systems and routines such as arrival, meal times, recess, and dismissal.
• Work in collaboration with and under the guidance of experienced Lead Teachers.
• Act as substitutes throughout the building as needed.
