About The Position

This position may be available at multiple Legacy Traditional Schools campuses, and preferred locations will be discussed during the interview process. The General Education Teacher will have the opportunity to change lives through education by motivating students to achieve academic excellence. This involves providing direct instruction using an accelerated, back-to-basics curriculum, including Spalding (reading & writing) and enVision Math. The role focuses on implementing instructional activities that engage students in meaningful learning, identifying and modifying resources for diverse learners, and utilizing direct instruction to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth essential for primary school success. The teacher will also assist in assessing curricular needs, maintaining record-keeping, communicating with stakeholders, collaborating with peers, modeling professional standards, ensuring student growth, participating in training, and meeting professional obligations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain
  • Must pass a criminal history background check.

Nice To Haves

  • A current teaching certificate from within the state position is located.

Responsibilities

  • Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success!
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
  • Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
  • Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
  • Participate in training and staff meetings.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and coordinating meetings as needed.
  • Evaluate each student’s learning capabilities and celebrate student accomplishments.
  • Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.
  • Be active in the role when light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required.
  • Participate in events outside of normal hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
