About The Position

Great Hearts Academies is seeking a life-long learner passionate about shaping students' hearts and minds. The Elementary Lead Teacher works at Great Hearts Live Oak Lower School, part of a growing network of public, open-enrollment, tuition-free classical schools serving K–12 students.

As a Homeroom Teacher, the teacher provides a welcoming and nurturing classroom that helps students develop a deep sense of wonder and a love of learning. The curriculum includes Spalding Phonics, Singapore Mathematics, and rich content in History, Science, and Literature. The teacher is supported in the classroom by an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher is required for a lead teaching role.
• Candidates must pass a TxDPS background clearance.
• US work authorization is required.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, prepare thoughtful lessons, and cultivate an orderly, joyful classroom supporting the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor their progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model Great Hearts culture, policies, and expectations, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, and contribute to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiate conferences as needed, and foster strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate in faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
• Travel locally as needed for training and professional development opportunities.
