About The Position

Williamstown Independent Schools is seeking an Elementary Teacher to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. This role involves creating a positive and effective learning environment, developing lesson plans, providing individualized instruction, assessing student progress, and collaborating with staff and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Provides individualized and small group instruction.
  • Adapts the curriculum to the needs and learning styles of each student.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior.
  • Evaluates each student’s academic, behavioral, and social growth.
  • Keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
  • Communicates with students and parents about student progress.
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professionals to address them.
  • Creates an effective environment for learning.
  • Maintains professional competence through professional development.
  • Participates in the district evaluation process.
  • Selects and requisitions instructional materials.
  • Maintains required inventory records.
  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities.
  • Administers group assessments.
  • Participates in curriculum development programs.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, team meetings, departmental meetings, and committees.
  • Sponsors student co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and media.
  • Takes necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff.
  • Accepts responsibility for the utilization of and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records.
  • Assists in enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.
  • Cooperates and correlates with other staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Promotes good public relations with parents and the community.
  • Assigns tasks for which students have a high probability of success.
  • Expects all students to make reasonable progress.
  • Provides guidance to promote student and educational development.
  • Implements authentic instruction and continuous formative assessment.
  • Promotes, demonstrates, and implements KERA learning goals and academic expectations.
  • Demonstrates effective positive interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned.
