About The Position

This position is for an Elementary Teacher. The primary purpose of this role is to teach children, meeting them at their current educational level and advancing their learning. The teacher will be responsible for maintaining an orderly learning atmosphere, keeping the Principal informed of program activities and challenges, and employing a variety of instructional techniques with a focus on basic academic skills. The role involves utilizing diverse instructional materials and technology, managing learning time effectively, and teaching the adopted curriculum. Developing lesson plans, providing individualized and small group instruction, and participating in professional development are key aspects of the position. The teacher will also assist in the selection of instructional materials, work cooperatively with administration and colleagues, and support the identification of students for supplemental educational programs. Additionally, the role includes counseling and evaluating students, administering standardized tests, communicating with students and parents about progress and expectations, and creating a safe and effective classroom environment. The teacher will assist in implementing school policies, maintaining classroom order, protecting students and school property, and managing classroom inventories. Responsibilities also include sharing school duties, supervising students, participating in school-based decision making, supporting school activities, attending faculty meetings, maintaining student record confidentiality, and upholding professional standards and attendance.

Responsibilities

Employ a variety of instructional techniques, prioritizing basic academic skills.
Utilize diverse instructional materials and technology to enhance learning.
Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
Teach the adopted county and school curriculum.
Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction.
Take an active part in the professional development of the school and district.
Assist in the selection of books, software, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Work cooperatively with administration, other teachers, support personnel, and the SBDM Council.
Assist resource teachers, Title I teachers, gifted education teachers, and other teachers/coordinators in student identification for supplemental programs.
Determine factors contributing to low academic performance and make necessary referrals.
Counsel and evaluate students, providing guidance for their welfare, self-esteem, and educational development.
Evaluate student progress regularly and maintain appropriate assessment documentation.
Administer group standardized tests.
Utilize teaching strategies that incorporate activities to enhance performance events and open-response assessments.
Communicate with students on instructional expectations and progress.
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil progress and interpret the school’s program.
Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes, including time outside the instructional day.
Create a safe, disciplined, and effective classroom environment.
Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life.
Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures, and maintain order.
Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain proper inventories of non-expendable school supplies, materials, and equipment.
Share school duties as assigned by the Principal and supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities.
Participate in school-based decision making.
Support or participate in school-wide student activities, social events, and approved fund-raising activities.
Attend all faculty meetings, unless excused, and serve on staff committees.
Ensure that student records and information are kept confidential.
Refrain from making any public comment about any student that might be considered critical or derogatory.
Maintain the highest professional standards in personal conduct.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Perform related duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
