About The Position

BASIS Phoenix Primary is seeking an Elementary Teacher for a long-term substitute role. The Elementary Learning Expert Teacher (LET) works with Subject Expert Teachers (SETs), who lead the main instruction for each class, allowing the LET to focus on students’ individual results and differentiated learning needs.

BASIS elementary classrooms are co-taught by two elementary teachers. LETs help cultivate a joyful learning culture, customize education to meet students’ individual needs, and use their pedagogical expertise to support student achievement. The role includes responsibility for one cohort of students and collaboration with the SET for each class period.

BASIS teachers are part of a collaborative professional learning community and teach the BASIS Charter School Curriculum. Teachers have autonomy and academic freedom to develop dynamic lessons that foster enthusiasm for new ideas and high-level learning, while helping students reach their potential.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Demonstrated passion for student achievement and directed effort to raise individual student outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for one cohort of students and lead them through classroom transitions during the day.
• Collaborate with the Subject Expert Teacher for each class period.
• Use expertise in elementary education teaching methods to provide individualized or small-group instruction that meets students’ differentiated needs.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
