About The Position

Lenawee Christian School is seeking a Christ-centered, dedicated Upper Elementary Teacher to provide foundational academic instruction while nurturing the spiritual, social, and emotional development of young learners. The Upper Elementary Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction while supporting the academic, social, and spiritual development of students in the upper elementary grades. This role fosters a structured and engaging learning environment that promotes critical thinking, independence, collaboration, and a love for learning, while integrating Biblical principles into instruction and modeling Christ-centered character in all interactions.

Requirements

  • Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life.
  • Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, or related field required, Master's preferred.
  • Valid state teaching certification required.
  • ACSI teaching certification, or the ability to obtain.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and instructional practices.
  • Ability to create engaging, structured, and nurturing learning environments.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills with students and parents.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience in elementary education strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction across core subject areas, including language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with school curriculum, state standards, and ACSI expectations.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including direct instruction, small group work, and differentiated learning.
  • Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning.
  • Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning skills.
  • Support the social, emotional, and spiritual development of students.
  • Encourage student engagement, participation, and ownership of learning.
  • Promote collaboration, responsibility, and positive peer interactions.
  • Establish and maintain a structured, organized, and positive classroom environment.
  • Set clear expectations for behavior, routines, and academic performance.
  • Reinforce school policies and student conduct standards consistently.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and growth.
  • Use data to inform instruction and adjust teaching strategies.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, expectations, and concerns.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school communication processes.
  • Partner with families to support student success.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives.
  • Support school events, programs, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Maintain professional standards aligned with ACSI and state accreditation requirements.
  • Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and expectations outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional effectiveness.
  • Integrate Biblical principles into instruction and daily classroom interactions.
  • Model Christ-centered character, leadership, and servant-heartedness.
  • Support the spiritual development of students through teaching, encouragement, and example.
