About The Position
The Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating curriculum resources and aligning curriculum with PSSA Assessment Anchors. The teacher works with the grade-level team to coordinate schoolwide efforts and meet school goals in service to scholars. The position is at First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter Schools and reports to the Principal. It is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Employees are expected to champion the Caring School Community Program, which builds positive classroom and schoolwide communities and develops students’ social and emotional learning skills. Teachers help create a warm, safe, and disciplined environment where students and other community members can develop constructive interpersonal skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Pennsylvania certification required.
Responsibilities
- Create a scope and sequence aligned with PSSA Assessment Anchors.
- Create weekly lesson plans aligned with state standards and the current curriculum in coordination with APS Grade.
- Grade student work and provide timely feedback.
- Communicate with the team about schoolwide and grade-level expectations.
- Communicate with families about their child’s progress.
- Coordinate with the ESL teacher.
- Coordinate with the special education teacher.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students.
- Attend after-school events as needed.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students.
- Champion the Caring School Community Program.
