This role is responsible for promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students. The teacher will utilize available instructional materials and a variety of techniques to foster student achievement and development, demonstrating knowledge of appropriate developmental practices for young children. Key functions include maintaining accurate records, ensuring a safe and attractive classroom environment, developing and implementing classroom management techniques, and completing administrative tasks in a timely manner. The position also involves planning and preparing for classes, submitting weekly lesson plans, and reporting punctually to assigned locations. The teacher will become knowledgeable about system methods, programs, and resources, using various diagnostic and placement methods. They will exhibit self-control, provide for individual differences, and continually evaluate student progress. Cooperation with school and central office personnel, encouraging parent involvement, and demonstrating professional growth through inservice training and faculty participation are essential. The role also requires adherence to Louisiana laws concerning student education, health, safety, and welfare, and assisting in the development of quality education within Jefferson Parish Public Schools. The teacher will plan for and participate in the evaluation process and perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
