About The Position

This position involves teaching elementary students with special education needs, requiring a valid Iowa teaching license and Instructional Strategist I endorsement. The teacher will provide instruction in both pull-out and inclusive settings, collaborate with various stakeholders, and implement research-based instructional strategies. A commitment to Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is essential. The role also involves directing classroom associates and support staff, utilizing technology, and demonstrating ongoing professional growth.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Iowa teaching license
  • Instructional Strategist I endorsement
  • CPI certification or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrates understanding and implementation of: Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
  • Demonstrates understanding and implementation of: Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
  • Demonstrates understanding and implementation of: Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students
  • Uses research-based instructional strategies, including gradual release and workshop models, to support differentiation and integration of skills and concepts.
  • Demonstrates strong assessment skills and understanding, including the ability to analyze and apply data to drive instruction
  • Experience using technology and integrating 21st Century Skills and Universal Constructs into instruction.

  • Previous classroom teaching experience
  • Experience working with diverse elementary learners, including students with autism and students exhibiting challenging behaviors

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in both pull-out special education settings and inclusive/general education environments using collaborative practices.
  • Collaborate with parents, AEA, teachers, support staff, and families.
  • Develop and implement effective behavior intervention plans based on knowledge of behavior functions.
  • Direct classroom associates and support staff with clear expectations and positive leadership skills.
  • Analyze and apply data to drive instruction.
  • Integrate 21st Century Skills and Universal Constructs into instruction.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth through collaboration with instructional coaches, professional learning, and goal setting.
  • Support and communicate the district’s mission and vision.
