About The Position

Ann Arbor Open K-8 School is seeking a full-time Elementary School Teacher for the 1.0 FTE position located at Ann Arbor Open at Mack. The teacher will be responsible for teaching the district-approved curriculum, developing lessons and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction, communicating with parents, and evaluating student growth. This role requires a valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate and work experience with early elementary children. The position is part of the Teacher's Salary Schedule and reports to the Principal.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate.
  • Possess work experience with early elementary children.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions in group settings.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

Responsibilities

  • Teach district approved curriculum.
  • Develop lessons and instructional material to provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt to the curriculum needs of each pupil.
  • Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, keep appropriate records and prepare progress report.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
