About The Position

Craneville Elementary School is seeking an Elementary (5th grade) Classroom Teacher. This role is responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction, designing lessons that foster problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills, and establishing standards for social and emotional learning. The teacher will commit to ongoing professional development, plan learning activities to address individual differences, and develop and evaluate formative and summative assessments. This position also involves monitoring student progress, encouraging family and community involvement, and collaborating with colleagues. The teacher must abide by state statutes and school board policies, attend meetings, protect students and facilities, and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

Massachusetts teacher certified in elementary education, grades 1 – 6
Knowledge of MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum, instruction, and assessment
Ability to work with diverse population

Responsibilities

Effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.
Establish and adjust instructional goals and objectives to reflect district/school goals, curriculum policies, and student needs.
Design lessons that provide opportunities for problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real-world problems.
Establish and maintain standards for social and emotional learning consistent with CASEL standards.
Commit to on-going professional development in content area and pedagogy.
Plan learning activities to address individual differences among students.
Develop, administer, and evaluate quality formative and summative assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge and problem-solving skills.
Monitor and evaluate students’ progress in relation to district/school curriculum policies and other planned goals and objectives.
Encourage, secure and maintain the involvement of families and other community members in support of instruction.
Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.
Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
Serve on committees as assigned.
Remain current on instructional practices in education (e.g. instructional technology).
