About The Position

Ann Arbor Open K-8 School is seeking a full-time Elementary Classroom Teacher for the upcoming school year. This position is responsible for teaching the district-approved curriculum, developing engaging lessons, and fostering student growth in both academic and social areas. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate and experience working with early elementary children. This role involves regular communication with parents, evaluation of student progress, and collaboration with colleagues and the community.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate.
  • Possess work experience with early elementary children.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions in group settings.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
  • Directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

Responsibilities

  • Teach district approved curriculum.
  • Develop lessons and instructional material to provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt to the curriculum needs of each pupil.
  • Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, keep appropriate records and prepare progress report.
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
