About The Position

The Elementary School Clerk (Grades: EC-5) is responsible for organizing and managing routine office work activities, coordinating activities pertaining to the special needs of the office, and maintaining a regular filing system. This role involves processing incoming correspondence, handling telephone calls, typing documents, ordering and maintaining supplies, and processing district forms. The clerk will respond to inquiries from employees and the public accurately and efficiently, and communicate with departmental staff, principals, teachers, and external contacts. Proficiency in computer software including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and project management applications is required. The position also involves preparing periodic status reports for the supervisor and performing other assigned tasks. The role requires demonstrated flexibility and a willingness to stay current with professional developments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or USA equivalency
  • One year of office experience; including test coordinating
  • Basic typing skills at 40 wpm
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully complete assignments with close supervision
  • Maintains a regular filling system and processes incoming correspondence as instructed
  • Places and receives telephone calls and recorded messages
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with all departments in the District
  • Demonstrated skills in meeting the public, Dallas Independent School District Executives and other professionals
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position

Responsibilities

  • Accomplishes assignments using computer software including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and project management applications.
  • Prepares periodic status reports related to assigned functions to the immediate supervisor.
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrates willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
