About The Position

Great Hearts Academies is seeking passionate, life-long learners to shape students' hearts and minds as Elementary School Art Teachers. Great Hearts is a growing network of 49 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free classical schools. They are committed to providing students with a high-quality, classical liberal arts education, with the highest goal of education being to become good, intellectually and morally. Fine Arts are a core part of the curriculum at Great Hearts, with all students studying music, drama, poetry, and studio art. The faculty in the fine arts are often professional artists and performers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role.
• All majors are welcome.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

• Certification is not required for general education.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
