About The Position

Chesterbrook Academy is seeking a creative and enthusiastic PreK–6th Grade Art Teacher to lead a comprehensive visual arts program for students across a wide range of ages and developmental levels. In this role, you will introduce younger students to foundational art concepts such as color, shape, texture, pattern, and composition while helping older students strengthen their artistic techniques, creative confidence, and understanding of diverse artists, cultures, media, and art movements. You will design engaging, hands-on learning experiences that encourage self-expression, artistic exploration, and an appreciation for the visual arts. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about art education, interdisciplinary learning, technology integration, and supporting the creative development of students in a collaborative private school environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Art Education, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field
  • Ability to successfully pass state and federal background checks

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching certification or credentials consistent with applicable state requirements preferred
  • Previous experience teaching art to elementary and/or middle school students preferred
  • Experience teaching students across multiple grade levels or developmental stages strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of visual arts curriculum development, artistic techniques, classroom management, and differentiated instruction
  • Ability to create engaging lessons using a variety of artistic media, materials, technologies, and instructional approaches
  • Familiarity with the Apple Teacher platform or a willingness to learn and successfully utilize the platform to support technology-enhanced instruction
  • Demonstrated proficiency with educational technology and an understanding of its role in contemporary teaching and learning
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to family engagement, student-centered learning, and creating an inclusive classroom environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate art instruction for students in PreK through 6th Grade
  • Introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, materials, media, artists, cultures, and art history concepts
  • Teach foundational art concepts to younger students while providing increasingly sophisticated projects and skill development for pre-k and elementary school students
  • Create a welcoming, organized, and inspiring classroom where students feel comfortable exploring ideas, taking creative risks, and developing their individual artistic voices
  • Design hands-on projects that encourage creativity, problem-solving, self-expression, collaboration, and confidence
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with varying ages, abilities, interests, learning styles, and developmental needs
  • Integrate art instruction with STEAM concepts, classroom themes, cultural studies, literature, history, and other curricular areas when appropriate
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, grade-level teams, and school leadership to support interdisciplinary learning and the overall student experience
  • Use projects, portfolios, classroom participation, critiques, and other developmentally appropriate assessments to monitor student growth and guide instruction
  • Plan, organize, and maintain art supplies, instructional materials, displays, classroom routines, and equipment
  • Ensure that students use art materials and classroom technology safely, responsibly, and appropriately
  • Showcase student artwork throughout the school community through classroom displays, hallway exhibits, school events, exhibitions, and special programs
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with families regarding classroom activities, student progress, and opportunities to celebrate student creativity
  • Participate in school functions, professional development, faculty meetings, and community engagement initiatives
  • Remain current on best practices in visual arts education, classroom management, child development, technology integration, and differentiated instruction
