Requirements

  • Minnesota Teaching License (Required)
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of effective systems, routines, and instructional practices for multilingual learners.
  • Collaborate with General Education teachers, Interventionists, Special Education co-teachers, other ML teachers, and school leadership.
  • Provide direct and collaborative services including Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP), English Language Development (ELD), content-based instruction, structured English instruction, co-teaching, small-group instruction, and push-in/pull-out support.
  • Determine eligibility and appropriate ML services by reviewing various student data and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain Individual Language Profiles (ILPs) and required ML documentation.
  • Collaborate with General Education teachers through co-planning, co-teaching, consultation, and instructional support.
  • Adapt and differentiate grade-level lessons, assessments, assignments, and learning activities for language access while maintaining grade-level rigor.
  • Plan and deliver high-quality language instruction in small groups and whole class using evidence-based strategies.
  • Teach The Writing Revolution strategies.
  • Provide appropriate scaffolds and language supports for students' access to grade-level content.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments.
  • Use data and progress-monitoring tools to evaluate student growth and adjust instruction.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, district, and school requirements for multilingual learners.
  • Complete all time-sensitive work efficiently and promptly.
  • Establish and maintain strong communication with families regarding ML services, student progress, and academic goals.
  • Develop positive relationships with students and create a calm, inclusive, culturally responsive, and student-centered learning environment.
  • Advocate for multilingual learners by collaborating with staff and families to identify and reduce barriers.
  • Collaborate as a member of the ML and schoolwide instructional team.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to changing student and program needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
