About The Position

The Met Christian Academy (TMCA) is a private Christian school in Northwest Houston, part of The MET Church. TMCA partners with families to offer an exceptional education focused on Christian discipleship. The school's programs include Lamb School for ages 6 months through Pre-K fours, and extended care classes. The ideal candidate will exemplify Christian character, serve as a positive role model, and be dedicated to the school's mission of Christian discipleship. They should possess a passion for growth, humility, relational intelligence, and a desire to positively influence others. An intentional approach and a heart for fostering meaningful relationships with God and others are also key attributes.

Requirements

  • Fully committed follower of Jesus Christ.
  • Faithfully attend a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with The MET Church and the Statement of Faith of this school.
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree.
  • 2 years of experience working with school aged children.
  • Accept and support the policies of TMCA, its educational philosophy, and objectives.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents.
  • Communicate, both verbally and written, with integrity, excellence, and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming, orderly, and hospitable lunch environment where students feel safe, valued, and cared for.
  • Supervise students during lunch and outdoor recess while maintaining a high standard of safety and accountability.
  • Ensure classes transition to and from lunch and recess according to the established daily schedule.
  • Build positive relationships with students by modeling kindness, patience, encouragement, and Christlike character.
  • Foster healthy peer relationships by helping students develop communication, cooperation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Encourage good table manners, respectful conversation, and gratitude during mealtimes.
  • Organize and supervise age-appropriate games and activities that promote physical activity, teamwork, and inclusion.
  • Provide engaging indoor activities and rainy-day alternatives when outdoor recess is not possible.
  • Address minor student behavior concerns using school discipline procedures and communicate significant concerns to teachers or administration.
  • Monitor playground equipment and lunch areas for cleanliness, safety, and proper use.
  • Assist students as needed while encouraging age-appropriate independence and responsibility.
  • Communicate effectively with classroom teachers regarding student needs or noteworthy concerns.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by assisting with other elementary duties as assigned.
