About The Position

The Elementary Minister oversees the Elementary Ministry (K-5th) in making disciples of children and their parents to fulfill the church’s vision of reaching the 4-B area with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This individual will shepherd children and equip parents to walk the path of Legacy Milestones, partnering for the purpose of gospel transformation.

Requirements

  • A committed and active member of Bay Area Church, or willing to transfer church membership if hired
  • A strong, clear Christian testimony
  • A lifestyle that displays an ongoing personal relationship with God and a commitment to serve Him daily
  • Acceptance, agreement, and compliance with Bay Area Church’s Statement of Faith and Standard of Conduct
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least three years of experience in a ministry staff or high-capacity volunteer role at a medium to large church (300-500+ attendees).
  • Must embrace their role as a partner, equipper, and encourager of parents as the primary faith trainers of their children.
  • Candidates should be able to build and lead volunteer teams to expand the impact on students and their families.
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills, and a commitment to family and equipping the next generation.
  • A working understanding of the Legacy Milestones (legacymilestones.com).

  • Must be able to remain stationary and move around while teaching or presenting
  • Must be able to regularly remain stationary at the computer, requiring repetitive finger movements and manual dexterity
  • Must possess the ability to observe details at close range required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and reading
  • Must possess the ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; possess the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound
  • Must possess the ability to express ideas using the spoken word to convey instructions to stakeholders accurately, loudly, and/or quickly
  • Activities occur inside and outside, and the worker is subject to both environmental conditions

Responsibilities

  • Lead and serve your own family well, including walking the Legacy Path at home
  • Assist in ministerial care, including shepherding the church through counseling and hospital visits
  • Develop annual goals, calendar, and budget for the Kids Ministry
  • Champion Milestones 1, 2 & 3, integrating them deeply into every area of ministry
  • Equip parents to walk the Legacy Path at home
  • Coordinate with the Student and Adult Ministries to effectively make disciples
  • Develop and lead a robust Elementary Ministry volunteer team, including recruitment, development, resourcing, and consistent coaching
  • Develop and maintain an effective Life Group discipleship strategy for K-5th grades
  • Oversee an effective Preteen 5th-grade ministry transition to Student Ministry
  • Develop and lead Elementary and Kids Ministry events (VBS, Jingle Jam, Summer Camp, 4th/5th Grade Retreat, Bible presentation, etc.)
  • Counsel children who have professed Christ as Lord
  • Provide oversight to all Sunday and Wednesday Elementary Kids Ministry programming
  • Provide oversight to the Champions Club Ministry for children with special needs
  • Manage Elementary Kids Ministry welcome teams for Sundays and Wednesdays
  • Assist with the oversight and coordination of paid childcare workers
  • Evaluate facility needs and make recommendations regarding Kids Ministry areas
  • Support church-wide events such as Parent Ministry Focus groups, Parent Summit (Kids Summit), etc.
  • Plan and execute regular events strategically aligned with BAC's Vision and Values (e.g., VBS, Jingle Jam, summer camps, etc.)
  • Equip and resource parents to become the primary faith influencers of their children
  • Consistently recruit, develop, and equip Kids Ministry volunteer leadership teams
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with parents and families using social media and other communication tools
  • Engage local schools regularly, being present and participating in opportunities to connect with and impact students and staff
  • Teach children regularly in large gatherings
  • Work in collaboration with other Generational Team members to plan and execute yearly parent training events and leadership-equipping events
  • Support the Lead, Executive, and Family Discipleship Pastors in other duties as assigned
