Teach pupils at the elementary level basic academic, social, and other formative skills in keeping with the school's Catholic character and Gospel values. This is a full-time or part-time position covering a maternity leave. The role involves establishing and enforcing classroom rules, observing and evaluating student performance, preparing materials and classrooms, adapting teaching methods, and planning and conducting activities for a balanced program of instruction. The teacher will instruct students individually and in groups, assign and grade work, read to classes, administer and grade tests, and confer with parents and staff to resolve student issues. The position also requires maintaining student records, preparing students for future grades, guiding and counseling students, preparing and implementing remedial programs, and developing and outlining courses of study. Additionally, the teacher will provide resources for exploration, enforce administration policies, collaborate with staff on lesson planning and curriculum development, and prepare reports. The role includes instructing students on equipment use, organizing and leading developmental activities, attending professional meetings, planning and supervising class projects and field trips, organizing materials, attending staff meetings, administering and interpreting standardized tests, supervising assistants and volunteers, involving parents and older students in activities, performing administrative duties, selecting and managing classroom supplies, providing support for disabled students, and sponsoring extracurricular activities. Preparation for Mass and sacramental preparation is also part of the duties.
