About The Position

Under the direction of the Principal, the Elementary Campus Monitor patrols and monitors campus activities to help ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors during non-classroom activities. This classification is assigned to elementary schools and has a limited scope of responsibility compared with the Campus Safety Assistant. Elementary Campus Monitors oversee students during designated non-instructional times; Campus Safety Assistants have broader safety and security responsibilities and enforce student compliance with school and District rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Current positions work 205 days per year at a school site, with anticipated hours of 3 hours per day, Monday through Friday. The recruitment process includes a training and experience evaluation and a structured interview. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements may also be required to complete a competitive testing process, which may include a written examination, training and experience evaluation, performance examination, and/or structured oral interviews. Candidates achieving the top three ranks on the appropriate eligibility list will be referred for a final selection interview. The eligibility list may be used to fill vacancies for up to one year or until depleted, and may also be used for vacancies in related classifications for which no eligibility list exists.
