About The Position

Alma del Mar is a K-8 charter school dedicated to preparing scholars for college and fostering service-minded leadership through a demanding yet supportive, content-rich educational environment. The Associate Teacher role is designed for individuals new to teaching, offering hands-on experience and a path to becoming a lead teacher. Associate Teachers collaborate with experienced Lead Teachers, gradually taking on more responsibility for lesson planning and instruction. They receive ongoing professional development, feedback, and coaching. Specific content areas and instructional roles vary based on the school's needs and the teaching team's approach.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is required.
• A passion for working with kids and a belief that all kids can succeed.
• The desire to become a classroom teacher.
• Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply and will be compensated higher.

Nice To Haves

• Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as part of a grade-level team.
• Work in collaboration with and under the guidance of experienced Lead Teachers.
• Take on increasing responsibility for lesson planning and lead teaching as the year progresses.
• Participate in ongoing professional development.
• Receive frequent, targeted feedback and coaching.
