About The Position

This role provides semiprofessional technical support for engineers in areas such as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. The work involves electrical, electronic, or mechanical components and equipment, requiring practical knowledge of science or engineering, and potentially mathematics or computer science. Technicians in this role may prepare design drawings and assist with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment. The Electronics Technician III applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that cannot be solved solely by referencing manuals. This includes determining circuitry density, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes. The work requires an understanding of circuit interrelationships, independent judgment in circuit analysis, waveform calculations, and signal flow tracing, utilizing complex test instruments and computer control equipment. This position may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Provide semiprofessional technical support for engineers in research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement.
  • Work with electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment.
  • Prepare design drawings and assist with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems.
  • Determine the location and density of circuitry.
  • Evaluate electromagnetic radiation.
  • Isolate malfunctions.

  • Calculate waveforms.
  • Trace relationships in signal flow.
  • Utilize complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
