About The Position

Working under direct supervision of a group lead or higher-level technician, an Electronic Technician I specializes in ground-based electronic systems. The employee will be responsible for performing work on various types of electronic equipment and related devices through a combination of installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, construction, and testing. This role involves operating and maintaining electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, digital and analog computers, industrial measuring and controlling equipment, microwave amplifiers and transmission lines, high-voltage power supplies and keying circuits, indicators and displays, and antenna positioning systems. The technician will apply technical knowledge of electronic principles to solve basic problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data, and test equipment, diagnose equipment malfunctions and effect repairs, manipulate computer keyboards, and view and interpret computer displays. Troubleshooting to the component level and making needed repairs are key functions. Other job-related duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • Education and/or training in electronics from an accredited college, technical school, or equivalent military training is required.
  • Basic knowledge of college math, DC and AC electronics, digital logic, solid-state devices, and circuits
  • Basic understanding of general electronics
  • Familiarity with electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer systems
  • Familiarity with test equipment used to maintain and repair equipment
  • Basic troubleshooting and soldering skills
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the Federal Government Contract.

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical knowledge of electronic principles to solve basic problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data and test equipment
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and effect repairs to restore equipment to required operating condition
  • Manipulate computer keyboards and view and interpret computer displays
  • Troubleshoot to the component level and make needed repairs
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required
  • Read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job.
