The Leidos NISC IV team is seeking a dynamic Senior Instructor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. The position will be supporting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) NISC support team with the goal of providing outstanding customer service to FAA customers receiving NISC services. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the NISC IV mission. The NISC IV contract will provide technical instructions for new hire Electronics personnel with the requisite skills required to perform fiber optics projects assigned to Engineering Services. This is a remote consulting position that can be located anywhere in the US, with the requirement to travel to Lakeland, FL or other locations as needed to teach classes. The Senior Level Instructor or Trainer role will include providing classroom instruction to students through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing. Courses will be taught in-person with day and potentially evening courses. The role will assist students in developing the fundamental skills required to serve as an entry-level fiber optic cable installer or technician. The instructor will teach fundamental principles of fiber optic technology, including knowledge of different fiber types, splicing techniques, network design, safety protocols, and how to use specialized tools to connect and activate fiber optic networks. The instructor will also teach electronic and fiber optic fundamental safety, including but not limited to PPE, handling cables, proper handling of various chemicals, cleaners, and adhesives, adhering to industry standards, and ensuring proper training to avoid injury and damage. The role involves providing classroom and laboratory instruction to students.
