About The Position

Borr Drilling is seeking talented Electronic Technicians with Jack-Up rig experience, permanent authorization to work in the United States, and an interest in national assignments to join their operations in U.S. waters. Reporting to the Rig Maintenance Supervisor, the Electronic Technician is the primary electronics specialist responsible for the maintenance, repair, operation, and material control of all electronic equipment on board the rig. This role is crucial for ensuring all electronic equipment remains functional, minimizing downtime, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ET will advise the Rig Maintenance Supervisor on all electronic maintenance and repair needs and the operational status of electronic systems.

Requirements

  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States.
  • Jack-Up rig experience.
  • Previous experience working in the capacity as an Electronic Technician.
  • Previous experience working on similar MODUs.
  • Proficient computer skills in office software and company proprietary software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and to follow directions.
  • Ability to understand and interpret line diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Ability to anticipate potential hazards and problems and act before they occur to minimize risk.
  • Effective communication skills: Fluency in written and spoken English required.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership qualities.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Rig Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensure all operations are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner, correcting or notifying responsible persons of any unsafe acts and/or conditions.
  • Actively participate in pre-shift and Toolbox Talk meetings, observation programs, and safety meetings, reporting any concerns appropriately.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Borr Drilling’s QHSE Management System and ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), including Risk Assessments.
  • Perform and provide support, safety leadership, and onsite supervision of all electronic maintenance activities onboard the rig.
  • Carry out all maintenance and repair activities of electronic equipment and systems onboard the rig in accordance with the Company’s Maintenance Management Plan.
  • Carry out all maintenance and repair activities of electrical equipment and systems onboard the rig as directed by the Rig Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Execute and update the rig’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), maintenance, and rig documentation records in a timely manner.
  • Ensure secure storage and recording of revisions, backups, access codes, and passwords for all automation software systems.
  • Assist the Rig Maintenance Supervisor in planning future operations and electronic maintenance activities.
  • Carry out regular inspections and report any damage immediately.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels for equipment under area of responsibility, ordering stock in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure all lock-out tag-out procedures are followed and hazards are identified before starting work on electrical equipment.
  • Assist with third-party equipment inspections and ensure compatibility of third-party electronic equipment with the rig.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot system faults and failures of electronic equipment, including helideck, navigation, marine systems, radio comms, emergency alarm systems, communication and IT equipment, PLC and VFD systems, Drilling Automation systems, Fire & Gas systems, and Mud and Bulk management/monitoring systems.
  • Be an integral part of the team for near miss/incident and accident reporting.
  • Ensure care and routine maintenance of all tools and equipment, returning them to proper storage and servicing/replacing as necessary.
  • Assist Rig Maintenance Supervisor in all emergency situations and carry out emergency duties as per Station Bill and Emergency Response Plan.
  • Maintain housekeeping and appearance in general areas and areas of responsibility, including Switch Board Rooms, Control Rooms, Electrical/ET Workshops, and storage areas.
  • Keep abreast of operational/technical bulletins and ensure documentation is up to date.
  • Provide comprehensive handover notes and communicate handovers with their respective relief.
  • Achieve and maintain required standards for own training and competency requirements.
  • Perform other duties, complete additional tasks, and support ad hoc projects as required.
  • Work with assigned assessor to complete Borr Competence Management System “BCAMS” and identify areas for development.
  • Provide demonstrable evidence to complete the assessor outcomes.
  • Familiarize with Borr Drilling QHSE procedure and comply with assigned responsibilities.
  • Abide by and promote Borr Drilling Life-Saving rules at all times.
  • Have the authority and responsibility to STOP any job that is unsafe.
  • Actively participate in Borr Drilling’s Behavior Based Safety (BBS Card) program.
  • Report any unplanned event to the supervisor immediately.
  • Understand responsibilities during an emergency and participate in all emergency drills.
  • Keep the work area safe at all times.
