About The Position

This position involves partnering with a large federal law enforcement agency on Redstone Arsenal, focusing on a variety of daily activities related to wireless networks, LANs, WANs, electronic security, forensic audio and video, as well as telephone and electrical systems. The role offers a balance of field and office work, collaborating with construction teams in new facilities as part of the agency's multi-billion dollar expansion, and handling ticket-based activities to ensure continuous operations. This unique role aims to broaden skillsets in both physical and logical network operations, working closely with senior engineers to resolve major agency issues and maintain 100% network uptime. The technician will apply technical knowledge to perform routine tasks, receive guidance from supervisors, and execute duties such as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing electronic equipment, and taking test readings with various instruments. Responsibilities also include installing and maintaining complex communications, network, and intrusion detection systems, along with associated wireless communication equipment, audio, video, and surveillance devices. The role requires performing technical work in specialized areas like electronic surveillance, data network, video analysis, and electronic security, and assisting in establishing and maintaining secure communication systems at command centers or SCFs, including equipment repair and corrective maintenance, and inspecting/testing systems for technical integrity.

Requirements

  • Ability to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "TOP SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • High School Diploma.
  • TWO (2) or more years of relevant experience providing electronics, wireless, and network support experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree OR a military veteran with training in a technical occupation and FOUR (4) years of technical service experience consistent with the knowledge required for this role.
  • Completed a basic electronics fundamentals course or equivalent and a tradecraft / vendor certified course for one of the following systems: radio communications, secure network communications, or electronic physical security systems.
  • Significant experience as a technician in a federal government organization, or position that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications and electronics principles and practices to perform duties on any one of the following areas: electronic surveillance between tempest and intrusion detection; electronic communications systems such as wireless networks; local area networks; wide area networks; electronic security (physical, cryptographic, tempest, intrusion detection, and access control); forensic audio and video analysis and operability; telephone facilities (line types, characteristics, and distribution systems); interception and, electrical systems to prepare necessary schematics for repairing electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge and expertise in the field of electronics as it relates to secure communications systems and associated wide / narrow band communications equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with a large federal law enforcement agency expanding on Redstone Arsenal.
  • Perform varying levels of daily activities in wireless networks, LANS, WANS, electronic security, forensic audio and video as well as telephone and electrical systems.
  • Work alongside construction teams in brand new, world class facilities, on the agencies multi-billion dollar expansion.
  • Execute ticket type activities to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Apply technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions.
  • Receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.
  • Perform tasks such as replacing components and wiring circuits.
  • Repair simple electronic equipment.
  • Take test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Install and maintain complex communications / network and intrusion detection systems and associated wide / narrow band wireless communication equipment, audio and video equipment, surveillance devices and other security-related equipment.
  • Perform technical work in various areas of specialization and functional areas including, but not limited to, electronic surveillance, data network, video analysis, image, audio, wireless, networking, electronic security, microwave etc., to handle routine and well defined special assignments.
  • Assist in establishing secure communication systems at a command center or SCF.
  • Repair equipment and perform corrective maintenance in assigned programmatic area(s).
  • Inspect and test equipment / systems to ensure that technical integrity is maintained and if necessary, proposes appropriate corrective action.
