About The Position

The Maintenance Electrician – Level 2 Technician role requires advanced abilities to perform complex maintenance activities, including problem-solving, critical thinking, and process improvement. This role involves training peers or lower-level mechanics and developing work instructions, drawings, or diagrams. Electives are specialty areas where advanced skills can be developed, potentially fulfilling company needs and involving training others. The technician will perform all required process checks, follow reaction plans for deviations, identify customer requirements, and ensure proper production operation. Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, housekeeping, safety guidelines, and Food Safety measures is mandatory. The technician will perform maintenance work, documenting all work and parts used in the CMMS. Responsibilities include modifying, fabricating, and upgrading production equipment, performing corrective and preventive maintenance tasks, and utilizing preventive and predictive maintenance techniques. Predictive tool and technique examples include Ultrasonic, Infrared, oil analysis, vibration analysis, and laser alignment. The role involves troubleshooting and repair activities, identifying necessary parts and supplies, tracking performance metrics, and continuing training for certification and to stay current with maintenance techniques. Proficiency in Oracle eAM, Visual Work Instruction, and MS Office Products is expected, with the ability to generate reports for budget and work planning. Advanced skills in modifying schematics/blueprints, complex repair and diagnosis of process equipment, complex system troubleshooting, and repair of electrical controllers and instruments are required. PLC operation, including Control Logix 5000, SLC 500, and PLC 5 programming and troubleshooting, as well as Panelview/HMI modification and GuardLogix/Safety Circuits understanding, are key. Elective areas may include welding, HAZWOPER, precision measurement and machining, specification of parts like VFDs, pneumatics and hydraulics repair, lubrication, fastener/tool usage, drives and transmissions verification, air compressors/dryers, boilers, hot/cold water systems, engine room systems, air handlers, ammonia systems, and plant utilities knowledge. The technician will also be able to locate and read trouble codes on alarm systems.

Requirements

  • Maintenance/electrical knowledge and/or experience.
  • Experienced plant operators with exposure to maintenance can be considered.
  • High School Diploma – G.E.D.
  • Associate Degree – Maintenance or computer related
  • Technical School - Maintenance or computer related
  • Certificate/License - Maintenance or computer related
  • Must be able to perform at the described skill level in order to attain and retain the level certification.
  • Continued learning to achieve certification or required skills and abilities as dictated by company needs are required to attain and retain level certification.
  • The ability to communicate with leadership, vendors, contractors, other maintenance partners, line operators via phone, fax, email, text, and person-to-person.
  • Level 3 technicians may be required to meet trainer qualifications to perform peer to peer training.
  • Overtime can be expected if the workload requires it.
  • Overtime can be expected when other Maintenance partners are away from work.
  • The position will require continuous advancement of technical knowledge and skills.
  • Applicants must demonstrate success in training courses, and will be expected to actively participate in assigned or elected training courses to refresh fundamental skills and match technology needs within the company.
  • The position will require the ability to multi-task and the ability to shift priorities quickly.
  • Applicants must pass the company’s testing requirement and local plant tests for maintenance positions.
  • Applicants must also meet all other Schreiber bid qualifications.
  • Must have an absenteeism rate of 3% or less, commendable or better record in teamwork and overall job performance and have no disciplinary action.
  • Must have authorization to work in the country in which the role is based.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all process CP, CCP, QP, and CQP checks required for the position.
  • Follow reaction plans for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement deviations.
  • Identify and understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper production operation.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and good housekeeping guidelines.
  • Follow safety guidelines, wear designated Personal Protective Equipment, conform to regulatory requirements and assure Food Safety measures are followed.
  • Perform maintenance work within the allocation of time needed to complete.
  • Document all work performed and parts used in the CMMS.
  • Modify, fabricate and upgrade production equipment following process change procedure if applicable.
  • Perform identified corrective work as assigned.
  • Implement and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Use preventive and predictive maintenance techniques and tools to generate corrective work requests and improve equipment reliability.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Identify parts, supplies, and tools needed for follow up corrective work or as needed.
  • Track and report pertinent performance metric information to assist in creating action plans and improvement ideas based on the tracking data.
  • Continue training as directed for certification levels and to stay current in maintenance techniques.
  • Use and apply Oracle eAM, and generate reports that can be used in budget planning, work planning, and other similar functions.
  • Use systems like eAM CMMS and VWI’s proficiently and provide input to improve.
  • Modify Schematics or blueprints using various methods such as hard copy sketches, CAD, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Perform complex repair and diagnosis of various process equipment exhibiting an in-depth knowledge.
  • Perform complex system troubleshooting using various troubleshooting tools.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and controllers.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the programming and communications of PLC systems following appropriate change management standards.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the programming and communications of Control Logix 5000, SLC 500, and PLC 5, including integrated motion control.
  • Modify existing Panelview/HMI programs.
  • Understand GuardLogix, programming, communications, and distributed safety I/O.
  • Perform certified food-grade welding (L 2-3 Elective).
  • Lead HAZWOPER meetings (Level 2-3 Elective).
  • Machine parts when assigned or required to tolerances (Precision Measurement and Machining Level 2-3 Elective).
  • Specify parts such as VFD’s, motor controllers, or instrumentation independently (Electrical, Controllers and Instruments Level 2-3 Elective).
  • Repair electromechanical issues on Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.
  • Change bearings on conveyors and simple equipment following VWI, OEM documentation, or job plans using food grade and non-food grade oils and grease.
  • Use appropriate meter for troubleshooting electrical or electromechanical components.
  • Verify settings in various motor controllers based on name plate, OEM, or other technical data for motorized drives.
  • Understand hazards and types of equipment for air compressors and dryers, and boilers.
  • Understand hot and cold water systems from a purpose and functionality standpoint.
  • Understand engine room systems from a purpose and functionality standpoint.
  • Understand basic hazards and appropriate individual responses for engine room systems.
  • Read associated schematics and identify basic electrical or electromechanical components for air handlers.
  • Understand ammonia systems from a purpose and functionality standpoint.
  • Identify and correct electrical or electromechanical issues in ammonia systems as requested, working with a qualified operator.
  • Understand basic hazards and appropriate individual responses for ammonia systems.
  • Have general knowledge of main electrical feeds and can use the one-line drawing to isolate or locate major electrical components or panels.
  • Have general knowledge of main water supply feeds, backflow preventers, main water shut off, and branch isolation valves and processes.
  • Locate and read trouble codes on alarm system panels.
  • Communicate codes effectively and follow basic reset commands via telephone if needed or assigned.
