About The Position

The Electronic Technician (ET) is the designated electronics specialist responsible for the maintenance, repair, operation and material control of all electronic equipment on board the rig. The ET is responsible for ensuring all electronic equipment remains functional throughout operations so as to minimize downtime and all electronic/electrical systems are within safety and regulatory body compliance standards and will advise the Rig Maintenance Supervisor on all electronic maintenance and repair requirements and operational status of electronic systems as required.

Requirements

  • BOSIET OPITO Offshore Medical Certificate
  • Previous experience working in the capacity as an Electronic Technician
  • Previous experience working on similar MODUs
  • Proficient computer skills in office software and company proprietary software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and to follow directions
  • Ability to understand and interpret line diagrams and technical drawings
  • Ability to anticipate potential hazards and problems and act before they occur to minimize risk
  • Effective communication skills: Fluency in written and spoken English required

  • Low Voltage Comp Ex (North Sea Region only)
  • Comp Ex or EEHA (All Borr Regions except North Sea Region)

  • Top Drive, would be advantageous
  • Electrical Maintenance Course, would be advantageous
  • Caterpillar Engine Course, would be advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Rig Maintenance Supervisor on the day-today management and long-range stewardship of the rig
  • Ensure all operations are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner and responsible for correcting or notifying responsible persons of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist
  • Actively participate in and contribute to pre-shift and Toolbox Talk meetings; Observation program, or special operations safety meetings and ensure any concerns or issues are reported appropriately
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Borr Drilling’s QHSE Management System; ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), i.e. Risk Assessments
  • Thorough knowledge and utilization of Company’s Integrity Management System, responsible to ensure understanding and application of updates, changes and working instructions
  • Perform and provide support, safety leadership and onsite supervision of all electronic maintenance activities onboard the rig
  • Carry out all maintenance and repair activities of electronic equipment and systems onboard the rig to ensure the execution of planned and unplanned maintenance is carried out in accordance with the Company’s Maintenance Management Plan
  • Carry out all maintenance and repair activities as directed by the Rig Maintenance Supervisor of electrical equipment and systems onboard the rig to ensure the execution of planned and unplanned maintenance is carried out in accordance with the Company’s Maintenance Management Plan
  • Execute and update the rig’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), maintenance and rig documentation records to ensure all actions are carried out and completed in a timely manner and in accordance with Borr Drilling policies and procedures to minimize potential downtime for electronic-electrical maintenance activities.
  • Ensure for all automation software systems; revisions back-ups, access codes and passwords are securely and properly stored and recorded, automation software, incl. automation support tools are protected from external un-authorized interference as per Company’s procedures.
  • Assist the Rig Maintenance Supervisor in planning the look ahead in accordance with future operations and any electronic maintenance activities, and carry out regular inspections in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures and report any damage to relevant supervisor immediately
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels for equipment under area of responsibility: order any stock in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Ensure all lock-out tag-out procedures are followed and all hazards and risks are identified prior to starting work on electrical equipment
  • Assist with third party equipment inspections as required and inspect all third-party electronic equipment is compatible with use on the rig
  • Responsible for performing diagnostic tests, and troubleshooting system faults and failures, of electronic equipment onboard the rig, including but not limited to: helideck, navigation, marine systems and radio comms systems, emergency alarm systems, communication and IT equipment, PLC and VFD systems, Drilling Automation systems, Fire & Gas systems, Mud and Bulk management / monitoring systems
  • Be an integral part of the team for near miss/incident and accident reporting
  • Ensure care and routine maintenance of all tools and equipment provided for company use and return all equipment to proper storage location and service/replace as necessary
  • Assist Rig Maintenance Supervisor in all emergency situations, be familiar with and carry out all emergency duties as per Station Bill, Emergency Response Plan and any other Company policies and procedures
  • Maintain housekeeping and appearance in general areas and areas of responsibility of the rig: specifically, but not limited to Switch Board Rooms, Control Rooms, Electrical/ET Workshops and storage areas
  • Keep abreast of operational/technical bulletins pertaining to area of responsibility and ensure all requisite documentation is kept up to date
  • Provide comprehensive handover notes and ensure communicating handovers with their respective relief
  • Personally achieve and maintain required standards for own training and competency requirements for job role
  • Perform other duties, complete additional tasks and support ad hoc projects as required
  • Work with assigned assessor to complete Borr Competence Management System “BCAMS” and where necessary, identify any areas for development.
  • Provide demonstrable evidence to complete the assessor outcomes
  • Familiarize with Borr Drilling QHSE procedure to understand the responsibilities assigned to your position and comply with the same
  • Abide and promote Borr Drilling Life-Saving rules at all times
  • You have the authority and responsibility to STOP any job that is unsafe
  • Actively participate in Borr Drillings Behavior Based Safety (BBS Card) program
  • You have the responsibility to report any unplanned event to your supervisor immediately
  • Ensure you understand your responsibilities during an emergency and participate in all emergency drills
  • You have the responsibility to keep your work area safe at all times
