About The Position

The purpose of this position is to "seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion." This is a fully qualified technician position. Major functions of this role include installation and maintenance of a wide variety of specialized robotic equipment for the printing industry. This includes hardware and software associated with printing presses and equipment for production of printed products. This technician would be expected to understand both.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology or equivalent related training from the military or an accredited electromechanical school with an emphasis on troubleshooting and performance. Education may be substituted with additional related work experience.
  • Four years of commercial experience as an Electromechanical Technician, Automation & Controls Technician, or related field.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics and machine drawings in both electronic and paper formats.
  • Experience in circuit and electrical cabinet design, testing, installation, and troubleshooting of enterprise-level systems.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, database management systems, and web browsers.
  • Familiarity with and ability to collaborate effectively with Electricians, Mechanical Fabrication Engineers, and Engineering Technicians.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required state, industry, safety, and equipment certifications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to identify and implement solutions to operational challenges.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English, including verbal communication, written instructions, training materials, and safety requirements.
  • Work safely from ladders, scaffolds, mechanical lifts, and other elevated locations for extended periods.
  • Bend, kneel, squat, push, and pull for extended periods.
  • Regularly lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in confined spaces and low-light environments for extended periods.
  • Possess good hand-eye-foot coordination.
  • Distinguish colors and hear equipment in operation.
  • Maintain visual acuity of at least 20/40 (with or without corrective lenses) and a minimum combined horizontal peripheral vision of 120 degrees.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PLC programming is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot advanced automation systems involving production of printed product manufacturing.
  • Test and maintain a wide variety of electronic hardware and software systems associated with printing presses and the production of printed products.
  • Troubleshoot installation errors and co-ordinate repair.
  • Conducts regular PMs on all equipment.
  • Liaison between front end users and back-end IT support to gather the appropriate teams to complete on-site installations.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain communications networks including IP, Serial (RS-232 & RS-485/422), Fiber and other system-specific data-buses.
  • Performs maintenance and testing on Printing presses, binders and other equipment.
  • Provide technical and commissioning support to contractors and Facility Managers.
  • Connect to equipment using IP, Serial, Console, and Web-Interface options for configuration, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Trains fellow technicians periodically as requested by supervisor.
  • Manages and oversees projects and contractors as requested by supervisor.
  • Assist in scoping and estimating projects.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains detailed records and documentation using Word, Excel, and other data processing software.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Management.
