About The Position

The Electronic Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of the Electronic and Machine Shops within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. This position provides specialized technical support, troubleshooting, repair, and routine maintenance for research and instructional instrumentation housed in the Stephenson Life Sciences Research Center and other teaching and research facilities across the University of Oklahoma campus. The Electronic Shop Manager supports the Department's research and instructional missions by ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of shop facilities, equipment, and instrumentation. The position provides machine shop training to students, faculty, and staff to ensure users are properly trained to operate shop equipment safely and independently. This position is responsible for shop safety, equipment maintenance, operational budgets, and financial transactions related to facility use and operation. The Electronic Shop Manager works closely with students, faculty, staff, departmental administration, research support services, and other University units to coordinate equipment repairs, maintenance, and technical services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, Vo-Tech, or Trade School Certification.
  • 36 months experience in Engineering, Electronics or as a Machinist.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days from hire date.

  • A 4-year degree in EET and at least 2 years of experience for the Electronic Shop.
  • For the Machine shop, a Vo-Tech grad from the Machine shop program should be knowledgeable enough to
