The mission of the Florida Department of Military Affairs is to provide management oversight of the Florida National Guard and provide units and personnel ready to support national security objectives; to protect the public safety of citizens and to contribute to the national, state and community programs that add value to the United States of America and to the State of Florida. The Electronic Security Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and training of electronic security systems. Such Systems are required by Army Regulation for the protection of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives. Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives include sensitive Federal property such as military weapons, weapon systems aircraft with weapons systems in the ready configuration, all ammunition, all explosives, classified material and information; and essential personnel. The term Electronic Security Systems includes but is not necessarily limited to: Sentrol Explosion and tamper proof Balance Magnetic Switches, Commercial Intrusion Detection Systems, Local and Wireless network creation and management, Closed Circuit Television, Electronic Entry Control, Exterior Detection Systems, and other electronic systems used for security and safety of personnel and/or property. This position requires extensive travel throughout the State in support of the Electronic Security Systems program. Develops and executes a detailed preventive maintenance and inspection plan for all Electronic Security Systems within the Florida Army National Guard. Visit each armory where Electronic Security Systems is installed to perform semi-annual inspections/tests of systems, structures, processes, and administrative requirements. Prepares inspection/test reports showing adjustments, corrections or repairs noted and accomplished. Documents noted deficiencies relating to training, structural issues, and administrative requirements. Make all authorized changes to accounts for each Florida Army National Guard unit's IDS roster, creating and issuing passwords and codes via secure electronic means, and maintaining the IDS event log and database. Obtains quotes, purchases, goods and services necessary to complete the mission. Assists in the development and maintenance of various user guides and instructional materials. Prepares and delivers unit specific training for the proper operation, user level maintenance, and administrative support of installed systems. Assists in conducting Physical Security Assessments related to the installation or modification of Electronic Security Systems at both new and existing facilities. Act as liaison between Electronic Security Systems users, contract alarm monitoring agencies, law enforcement agencies, and telephone companies throughout the state. Provides emergency troubleshooting and repair services for installations throughout the Florida Army National Guard. Troubleshoots Information Technology and Database storage systems for IT issues involving Electronic Security systems.
