About The Position

Ziegler CAT is hiring an Electronic Repair Technician to provide OEM-certified repair capabilities for Machine Control and Precision Agriculture products sold by Ziegler. The position repairs warranty and non-warranty components, fabricates Ziegler-specified cabling, and assists with technical support. The technician supports Ziegler teams, customers, external Trimble dealers, and manufacturers in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues, while maintaining repair records and developing expertise in GPS products and cabling.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience problem-solving technical, electrical, and/or mechanical issues.
• Customer-service orientation.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds and performing the listed movements and tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Two-year degree in electronics.
• Soldering skills.
• Knowledge of or experience with Caterpillar AccuGrade GPS and laser-based products, Trimble GPS-based products, Trimble Base and Rover products, or Trimble Precision Agriculture products.

Responsibilities

• Update database systems with problem definitions and component repair histories at the serial-number level.
• Review database records for recurring failures and repairs to support proactive communication among Sales, Technical Support, and OEMs.
• Analyze component failures against specifications and report failure trends to the supervisor.
• Support Level II and Level III technicians as needed.
• Maintain historical data and provide reports at the prescribed frequency.
• Support Ziegler Field Service, Technical Communicators, GPS Technical Support, and GPS Sales with diagnosing issues and resolving customer problems.
• Repair Caterpillar and Trimble GPS products used by Ziegler GPS customers.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose customer equipment problems and make needed repairs efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Fabricate and repair cables and equipment harnesses.
• Assist customers by phone and in person with repair-related troubleshooting and questions.
• Work with external Trimble dealers to provide support.
• Work with manufacturers to obtain current repair updates and service bulletins.
• Maintain and develop repair and bench technician knowledge of GPS products, including Caterpillar AccuGrade GPS and laser-based products, Trimble GPS-based products, Trimble Base and Rover products, Trimble Precision Agriculture products, and cabling and interconnect fabrication and repair.
• Diagram and update cabling products.
