About The Position

This is a place for engineers, scientists, and problem-solvers who are ready to engage deeply, think critically, and build with purpose. You will not just launch a career. You will be part of something bigger. Join us at Lockheed Martin as an ElectroMechanical Engineer where you will be responsible for product design, development, and production support for the Cable and Interconnects team on the Enterprise Cable and Harness team supporting multiple programs across the LM Space Enterprise. We are seeking a meticulous ECAD/MCAD Design Checker to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of electronic and mechanical design drawings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong eye for detail, solid knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with design engineers, product managers, and quality teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
  • Knowledge of cable manufacturing processes (connectors, crimping, soldering, forming, testing)
  • Experience reviewing ECAD (e.g., Zuken E3 Cable) and MCAD (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) drawings.
  • Familiarity with IPC‑2221/2222, ASME Y14.5, ISO‑9001, and Mil Standard drawing guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with ECAD and MCAD tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and wiring diagrams.
  • Certifications such as IPC Designer (CID, CID‑M), GD&T, or - Quality Assurance (e.g., CQE).
  • Experience with project management or ticket‑tracking tools (Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (SMT, CNC machining, injection molding).

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough inspections of ECAD (schematics, PCB layout) and MCAD (mechanical CAD) drawings for correctness, completeness, and adherence to company and industry standards (e.g., IPC, ASME, ISO).
  • Validate component placement, part numbers, tolerances, material specifications, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Cross‑check bill of materials (BOM) against drawings and design files for consistency.
  • Ensure all drawings meet internal design guidelines, DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacture/Assembly) rules, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and update design checklists, check‑sheet templates, and reference documentation.
  • Flag discrepancies, missing information, or potential manufacturability issues; document findings in clear, actionable reports.
  • Work closely with design engineers to resolve identified issues, providing constructive feedback and recommendations.
  • Maintain detailed records of review activities, decisions, and change orders in the PLM/EDM system.
  • Generate summary reports and metrics on drawing quality, defect trends, and turnaround times.
  • Participate in design review meetings, root‑cause analyses, and lessons‑learned sessions.
  • Contribute to the evolution of design‑checking processes, tools, and best practices.
