About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Electromechanical Engineer to join their team in Aurora, Colorado. The selected candidate will have a strong background in computer hardware design and integration, with a focus on understanding how changes in requirements impact hardware designs. This role involves working on systems that utilize diverse electrical signals including power, RF, and fiber optics. A successful candidate will have experience that includes hardware design, integration, and functionality verification. The selected candidate will be someone who can successfully collaborate on the design and integration of hardware systems ensuring adherence to changing requirements and specifications. They will create/update drawings, support equipment moves, rack and stack of equipment and integration of compute equipment into a shelter for deployment. Experience/interest in power/cooling or site construction and traveling to support installation and configuration events would be a plus. CONUS and OCONUS travel is possible. The role involves participating in system-level testing and verification processes, ensuring hardware meets all specified requirements and standards. Conducting troubleshooting and modifications on existing hardware designs to enhance performance and reliability is also a key responsibility. Utilizing clear technical writing to document design alterations, prepare status reports, and develop design specifications and validation plans is expected. Maintaining a proactive attitude in meetings with cross-functional teams, demonstrating initiative and professionalism while engaging with colleagues and stakeholders is important. Coordinating with the Material Management team and engineering teams to ensure material/equipment/tooling alignment to higher level assemblies is also part of the role. Position may require occasional travel to support field activities and hardware deployment.

Requirements

  • Level 2: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree in a STEM field with 0+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree in a STEM field with 3+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required at the time of application.
  • Experience with hardware design and integration processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts of requirement changes on hardware design.
  • Familiarity with power, RF, and fiber electrical signal principles and applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with complex system architectures and hardware validation procedures.
  • Knowledge of electronic components and their applications in communication systems.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced engineering environment with a focus on field support operations is desirable.
  • Experience/interest in power/cooling or site construction and traveling to support installation and configuration events would be a plus.
