Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer - Level 2 or 3 located in Boulder, CO. As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will contribute to the development, integration, and verification of RF-based ground systems supporting a variety of space missions. You will participate in system definition, requirements development, architecture decomposition, and verification activities throughout the system lifecycle, from early concept development through integration and test. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to translate mission and customer needs into system requirements and technical solutions. You will help define system architecture and interfaces across hardware, software, and infrastructure components, with particular focus on RF systems including antennas, RF front-end equipment, and ground communications infrastructure. This requisition may be filled at a higher job grade based on the qualifications listed below. This requisition may be filled as either a Level 2 or Level 3.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related experience; 0 years with a Master's (for Level 2)
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience; 3 years with a Master's; 1 year with a PhD (for Level 3)
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches
  • Experience in the design, development, and integration of ground system software, networking, and/or RF antenna programs.
  • Familiarity with RF communications systems, ground systems, or antenna-based architectures.
  • Active Secret clearance required at time of application
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with satellite communications, ground segment systems, or RF communications infrastructure.
  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE), SysML and Cameo
  • Familiarity with space vehicle ground segment design
  • Proven ability to iterate quickly on design and development processes, incorporating feedback and making improvements
  • Experience with Agile development
  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers
  • Experience integrating MBSE models with requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS/DNG) to support end-to-end traceability and verification planning.
  • Experience with technical writing and team building skills

Responsibilities
