About The Position

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Cables Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2 or Level 3), on our Cables Team located in Chandler, AZ where you will work closely with cable design teams and cable production teams supporting cable design, cable fabrication tools, cable testing, and inspection as well as the actual production floor builds. This position offers the opportunity to incorporate new processes into cable manufacturing build and the potential to become a primary engineer or process lead engineer. This is a fully on-site position; hybrid or remote work is not available. Relocation is not offered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of related experience – OR – Master’s degree with 0 years of related experience (for Level 2)
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of experience (for Level 3)
  • Experience working with MES or similar system
  • Familiarity with Root Cause and Corrective Action
  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, which generally requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite
  • BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited university

Responsibilities

  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Create cable MES cable build plans from a released cable drawing with schematic and requirements for the fabrication of the cable.
  • Create in-process change records on cable builds
  • Troubleshoot and work Cause/ Corrective Actions
  • Create design change cable build plans
  • Up-rev MES plans when new cable drawing releases
