About The Position

Solid Power is seeking an Electrolyte R&D Scientist I/II to join their team of engineers and scientists focused on developing next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The company offers a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The Electrolyte R&D team specializes in the research and development of solid-state electrolytes, including the creation of new materials and the improvement and modification of existing production materials. This role will involve working alongside senior scientists to develop solid-state electrolytes.

Requirements

Bachelors in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related degree from an accredited college/university.
Experience in an academic or industrial lab environment.
Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is required.
Experience in synthetic chemistry.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.

Nice To Haves

Experience in material characterization techniques (XRD, EIS, FTIR, DSC/TGA, Raman, SEM/EDS) is a plus.
Experience with statistical and relevant software (design of experiments (D.O.E.) a plus).
Knowledge of Li-ion battery materials optimization and synthesis is preferred.

Responsibilities

Work closely with and under the direction of senior scientists to execute planned experimentation aimed at modifications and improvements to solid-state electrolytes.
Perform material synthesis, characterization, data acquisition, and analysis.
Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team.
Perform regular and required housekeeping such as lab and glassware cleaning.
Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations, ensuring safe handling and proper disposal of hazardous materials and equipment.
