About The Position

Solid Power is seeking an Electrolyte R&D Scientist I/II to join their team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. This role will be in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The Electrolyte R&D team specializes in research and development of solid-state electrolytes, including development of new materials, and improvements and modifications of production materials. This role will work alongside senior scientists to develop solid-state electrolytes.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Experience in an academic or industrial lab environment.
  • Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Experience in synthetic chemistry.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in material characterization techniques (XRD, EIS, FTIR, DSC/TGA, Raman, SEM/EDS).
  • Experience with statistical and relevant software (design of experiments (D.O.E.) a plus).
  • Knowledge of Li-ion battery materials optimization and synthesis is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and under the direction of senior scientists to execute planned experimentation aimed at modifications and improvements to solid-state electrolytes.
  • Performs material synthesis, characterization, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team.
  • Perform regular and required housekeeping such as lab and glassware cleaning.
  • Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations, ensuring safe handling and proper disposal of hazardous materials and equipment.
