About The Position

We are seeking an Electroencephalography Technologist (EEG) to support the Veteran community in the Los Angeles, CA area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. The role involves performing routine and non-standard EEG and EP procedures, including awake, sleep, portable, and ECS. It also includes routine long-term monitoring (LTM/CCTV) with extended 10/20 electrode placement. The technologist will maintain high-quality standards in Electroencephalography principles and practices, performing studies in demanding environments like the operating room, research, or intensive care units. The role requires on-line analysis of testing data for correct diagnosis and close collaboration with physicians from the Neurology Service and the Epilepsy Center of Excellence. Sophisticated equipment will be utilized for continuous video-EEG monitoring in patients with undiagnosed spells, and administrative duties for each test will be followed according to established guidelines.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • EEG certification - Registration is offered by the American Board of Registration of EEG, CNIM, and EP Technologists (ABRET) or the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Techs (AAET).
  • Knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements.
  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.
  • Candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform routine and non-standard procedures (EEG and EP), including Awake, Sleep, Portable, and ECS.
  • Perform routine and specialized procedures, including routine long-term monitoring, LTM/CCTV – EEG monitoring, and extended 10/20 electrode placement.
  • Act as an expert EEG technologist, maintaining state-of-the-art quality in the principles, practices, and procedures associated with Electroencephalography.
  • Perform high-quality studies for complex and non-routine procedures in difficult and demanding environments such as the operating room, research, or intensive care environments.
  • Report specific patient outcome information, such as complications, to the Service Line Chief.
  • Perform on-line analysis of all testing to obtain the necessary data for the correct diagnosis of the patient.
  • Work closely with the physicians from the Neurology Service and the Epilepsy Center of Excellence.
  • Utilize sophisticated equipment and associated electronics to obtain continuous video-EEG monitoring in patients with undiagnosed spells.
  • Follow established laboratory and/or hospital guidelines in completing administrative duties for each test performed.
