About The Position

The EEG Technologist Apprentice at Cleveland Clinic Health System functions as a trainee under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager. This role supports the operations of the Epilepsy Center by following established policies and procedures. The apprentice will receive comprehensive training and instruction in performing electroencephalographic examinations and/or epilepsy monitoring. This apprenticeship program is designed to develop individuals into a successful healthcare career within a world-class team of caregivers at Cleveland Clinic, which is recognized as a top hospital in the nation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of physical and biological sciences normally attained through high school course work with emphasis in those areas
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within one month of hire.
• Minimum six months direct patient care experience completed at minimum one of year post-secondary education (may substitute for experience).

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions and selecting appropriate montages.
• Calibrates and adjusts equipment
• Observes patients with video and digital recording equipment; ensures EEG and tape are lined up exactly; checks focus, lighting and microphone
• Abstracts relevant patient information from clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning.
• Applies electrodes, respiration monitors and EKG
• Other duties assigned
