About The Position

The Electro-Optical Systems Engineer will support systems engineering, systems architecture studies, systems design & analysis, and test roles on programs for the development of high-performance electro-optical systems including optical sensor systems, infrared and spectral imaging systems. The E-O Systems Engineer will work on projects end-to-end, from proposal and design, through prototype development and analysis, to product development and manufacturing. Excellent communication skills and success working in a multi-disciplined team environment is essential. The position will derive, model, analyze and optimize complex optical and electro-optical systems at the conceptual and detailed design level, with a focus on radiometry, calibration, image quality and stray light control. Must be capable of design, development and analysis of optical and electro-optical systems, including visible and IR sensor systems, modeling and simulation, optical system performance modeling, performance analysis and tolerance assessment experience. Knowledge of image quality metrics such as MTF, MRTD, NIIRS ratings, SNR, etc is required. Position will be responsible for focal plane array analysis, radiometric calibration, simulation, integration and test.

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge of Zemax/CodeV, ModTran, and/or NVtherm/SSCam/NV-IPM desirable.
  • Working knowledge in various modeling & simulation software including Matlab, FRED, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Optics, Electro-Optics, Applied Physics, or equivalent engineering discipline from four-year college or university, MS preferred; or minimum 3 years related industry experience and/or training to include aerospace & military defense applications is required.
  • Hands on lab experience in radiometric, calibration, and image quality measurements required.

Responsibilities
