About The Position

Performs a variety of electrical trade functions, such as installing, maintaining, or repairing equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Requires rounded training and experience, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Journey/Tradesman State License required
  • Must have one-year certificate from college or technical school; or minimum five years journeyman level electrician experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of confined space entry and lock out tag out procedures.
  • Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in adverse situations
  • Ability to safely utilize, operate, and maintain hand and power tools common to the electrical trade
  • Ability to interpret and apply NEC, local codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) per contract.
  • Must complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Must be proficient with the English Language per contract.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks in accordance with work schedules and material requirements to ensure contract requirements are properly met
  • Complies with safety, security, property and material management, as well as time and attendance policies
  • Performs work in the most effective and efficient manner
  • Accomplishes work in accordance with authorized Work Orders and contract requirements for response and performance
  • Completes Work Order feedback in accordance with established procedures
  • Maintains, enhances, repairs, and installs electrical system components including, but not limited to: Wiring systems, Conduit systems, Cable systems, Conductors, Switches, receptacles, outlets, and device plates, Motor control centers, Control switchboards and consoles, Lightning protection systems, Fixtures, Electrical kitchen equipment, Kitchen and building ventilating fans, Sump pumps, Garbage disposal units, Electrical heaters in all applicable buildings, structures, and facilities.
  • Grounds service equipment
  • Provides temporary electrical service in emergencies by providing emergency lighting systems
  • Creates estimates
  • Tests circuits and loads
  • Provides standby electrical services for special events
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit
  • Pulls wiring through conduit
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps
  • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment
  • Installs control and distribution apparatuses such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels
  • Connects power cables to equipment such as electric range or motor
  • Installs grounding leads.
  • Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, multimeter, voltmeter and oscilloscope
  • Ensures functionality of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems
  • Assists Generator Technician in the performance of electrical tasks
  • Assists in the procurement of parts and materials for job completion
  • Performs other electrical duties within the scope of the position as assigned to support facility operations.
