About The Position

Prodomax Automation Ltd. is seeking an Electrician to join their team in Barrie, Ontario. Prodomax is a specialized industrial engineering firm focused on designing complex automation with a blue-chip customer base since 1971. They operate from two facilities totaling 200,000 square feet with over 200 employees and are ISO 9001:2015 certified. The Electrician will wire capital and tooling in automated assembly and welding systems and will report directly to the Electrical Supervisor. The level of the role will be determined by the skills and experience brought to the position, with responsibilities noted as the individual progresses. The position is structured with potential growth from Junior to Intermediate to Senior levels.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and Certificate of Qualification (Construction/Maintenance 309A or Industrial).
  • 1-3+ years of direct working experience in all aspects of machine wiring (Junior).
  • Minimum 1-year direct working experience (Junior).
  • Experience in wiring automated assembly equipment.
  • Experience with interpretation of electrical schematic drawings.
  • Experience working in a high-pressure environment with dynamic requirements.

  • 3-5+ years direct experience in all aspects of machine wiring (Intermediate).
  • Minimum 5+ years of direct working experience in all aspects of machine wiring (Senior).

  • Experience in wiring and trouble-shooting automated assembly equipment (Senior).
  • Ability to work regular and/or continental shift (when required) (Senior).
  • English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and Fall Arrest Licenses are preferred.
  • Some understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics would be an asset.
  • Effective working knowledge of Autocad design software is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Wire capital and tooling in automated assembly and welding systems.
  • Understand and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge/understanding of the Electrical Safety Code.
  • Knowledge of wiring hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, robots, PLC’s and welders.
  • Assist in plant and equipment maintenance.
  • Responsible for electrical safety on a project.
  • Utilize analytical skills to reach a clear and concise conclusion.
  • Experienced in wiring automated assembly/weld equipment.
  • Ensure all work activities are completed according to the procedures or best practice.
  • Maintain quality, generate issues lists related to the equipment, and provide that feedback to the necessary departments.
  • Travel to customer sites to install or service equipment at their facility.
  • Some heavy lifting.
  • Lead resources and train others in machine wiring phase of a project (Intermediate and Senior).
  • Assist mechanical/electrical with design and BOM (Intermediate and Senior).
  • Troubleshoot automated assembly/weld equipment (Intermediate and Senior).
  • Interact with shop floor and design personnel for engineering issues/drawing updates to aid in machine wiring activities (Senior).
  • Monitor schedules/budgets and coordinating the workforce needed for effective project execution (Senior).
  • Work within the project team to provide feedback to engineering to improve machine wiring efficiency and reduce cost (Senior).
  • Utilize fundamentals in machine wiring practices to help engineering design equipment that will be cost effective and meet customer needs (Senior).
  • Be part of the team that starts up the equipment and completes the job onsite (Senior).
  • Mentor and lead Apprentices, Junior, and Intermediate Electricians (Senior).
