About The Position

Bollinger is seeking a 1st Class Electrician to install and repair wiring, fixtures, and equipment for electrical services aboard vessels and in shipyard facilities. The role includes planning installation layouts from blueprints or written specifications, connecting and testing electrical circuits and equipment, and constructing and installing instrument panels. Supervisory duties for at least five workers may be required. The position requires work in confined or enclosed spaces, at elevations greater than five feet, and use of a respirator when applicable. Employees must follow company policies and procedures, including employee safety, environmental policy, and quality-system principles; report to work daily and on time; and work overtime as required.

Requirements

Eight years of marine electrical experience or four years of continuous company experience is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret standard construction drawings and specifications.
Good working knowledge of system operations and job-related tools, gauges, and meters.
Familiarity with all aspects of craft-specific marine construction, from design through installation and testing.
Knowledge of applicable commercial and military specifications and standards.
Ability to work in confined or enclosed spaces.
Ability to work or climb at elevations greater than five feet.
Ability to wear and work in a respirator when applicable.

Responsibilities

Review blueprints or written specifications to plan installation layouts.
Strip insulation from wire ends and solder ends to terminals.
Connect power-supply circuits to radio, radar, sonar, fire control, and other electronic equipment.
Test circuit electrical characteristics, including voltage, resistance, and phase angle.
Construct and install instrument panels.
Provide supervisory duties for a minimum of five workers as needed.
Follow company policies and procedures concerning employee safety, environmental policy, and the quality system.
Report to work daily and on time, and work overtime as required.
