About The Position

Plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment by performing the following duties. Follows safe operating procedures, maintains 7S standards, and performs PM activities as required. Communicates with co-workers from the previous and following shifts to discuss problems and concerns. Actively participates in continuous improvement activities. Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit. Pulls wiring through conduit. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps. Compiles materials list for individual work orders and enters into business system. Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays and circuits-breaker panels. Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as multimeter, megohmmeter and oscilloscope. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for instruments, relocation, or replacement. Repairs faulty equipment or systems. Troubleshoots production machinery and building environmental equipment (HVAC, heat/lighting, etc.) using multimeters, megohmmeter, oscilloscope, and a PC for units controlled by programmable logic controllers. Balances sintering furnace glo-bars to ensure uniform heating across zones. Performs preventative maintenance tasks on production and non-production equipment. Wires and installs new control panels to upgrade existing equipment. Records maintenance actions performed in computerized maintenance system. Completes other tasks within job classification as assigned. Assist other associates as directed by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Electrical-related field or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
