About The Position

The Electrical Journeyman will have valid Electrical certification, and the position is accountable for all electrical along with corrective, preventative/predictive programs for all plant equipment and building facilities. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Team lead for day – to – day task. This role is a rotational shift that includes morning, afternoon and night shift (rotation is biweekly or as required for the operational needs).

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Ontario Industrial Electrician License.
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical maintenance field, preferably in food manufacturing or other related industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and food safety procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and ensure completion with minimal errors.
  • Ability to assess and promptly rectify difficult situations and /or issues.
  • Active knowledge of health and safety regulations in high heat area.
  • Flexible working all 3 shifts, changing start times, including weekends.
  • Plus, overtime as needed.
  • Working under minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance in the repair of all electrical/electronic processes and maintenance related lost time events.
  • Troubleshoot all production and plant equipment and process HMI/PLC / SCADA systems plus facility infrastructure to ensure high levels of safety, quality, production and effective maintenance are achieved.
  • Follow all predictive/preventive maintenance programs utilizing SAP for Work Orders requests, SOP’s and GMP Standards.
  • Assist in developing new SOP’s, GMP standards and One Point Lessens as required.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and direct instruction to all members of the maintenance department on Best Practice, Technical Applications and Process Change in a clear and supportive manner.
  • Implement training with feedback where required in any deficient area for less experienced members of the maintenance team to help align competencies across the group.
  • Determine and select appropriate tools, spare parts and components to execute the required level of maintenance to all plants and equipment whilst ensuring an accurate control of inventory in the process.
  • Assist in the planning phase for installation and removal of equipment.
  • Perform start-up commissioning and any shutdown activities for the plant as an internal project or with manufacturers and service providers as required.
  • Inspect and calibrate accessible process controls, measuring equipment and recording devices to maintain or improve equipment performance or OEE and implement any cost saving ideas, according to trade.
  • Perform maintenance of vacuum pumps, motors, blowers, roasters, grinders, conveyors, elevators, augers, packaging equipment, compressors and HVAC systems etc. as required.
  • Ensure equipment logs are maintained effectively along with process inventory data and restock requests, utilize CMMS System to help maintain complete and accurate records in conjunction with maintenance planner.
  • Maintain regular contact with Maintenance Manager and production management including Shift Managers, Shift Leads and the Maintenance Department staff as well as Vendors and Contractors as required.
  • Recommend process changes and apply Lean Manufacturing Principles and tools, as appropriate.
  • Adhere to operational safety systems and practices and ensure that all safety measures for the plant and production lines are in place and followed accordingly.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, including all related equipment and tools, as outlined in the Sanitation procedure.
  • Carry out weekly reviews of the GMP and Premise audit reports and delegate appropriate remedial tasks in the relevant skills and trades to facilitate rapid completion and closure of any non-conformance.
  • Support equity, diversity, and inclusivity programs.
  • Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining product quality and food safety program practices including BRC, HACCP, QA / QC, GMP, Sanitation and good hygiene practices.
  • Understand, apply and actively participate in maintaining health and safety program practices including lock-out/tag-out, safe lifting, confined space, incident prevention, WHMIS, M/C guarding, CSA Z462 or NFPA 70E - Electrical Safety in the workplace and all other personal and process related safety practices.
